The Sound of Music tells the uplifting true story of Maria, the fun-loving governess who changes the lives of the widowed Captain von Trapp and his seven children through her love of music.
Joining the 30-strong talented international cast are 17 of New Zealand’s own born and bred star aspiring children, and one Australian boy playing the von Trapp children.
When Andrew Lloyd Webber announced a casting call, the response was phenomenal, with more than 1000 kids expressing their interest. After 3 days of intense auditioning, the von Trapp children were chosen. Eighteen in total, including understudies for each, to play on a rotation between Wellington and Auckland.
